Position Summary:

- Monitor and coordinate work between 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shifts
- Responsible for maintenance of all company-owned equipment in the fleet
- Oversee daily work schedules; monitor mechanics’ daily productivity
- Perform quality inspections of work performed
- Counsel employees about work related issues and provide assistance
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment for all employees
- Control fleet maintenance related costs
- Ensure timely preventative maintenance is performed
- Effectively manage road-calls to minimize driver downtime
- Communicate with Operations management to ensure all equipment requirements are fulfilled
- Track and report daily out-of-service equipment
- Oversee parts/stock room inventory and parts ordering on a daily basis
- Monitor all shop lubricants and necessary bulk fluid inventory
- Oversee tire program and inventory
- Oversee fuel program
- Ensure effective coordination/moving of equipment for warranty/repair work at shop
- Ensure proper filing and archiving of shop-related documentation
- Maintain and monitor all shop related equipment
- Report directly to Field Fleet Maint. Mgr. regarding all types of equipment repairs and/or any shop issues


- HS diploma or equivalent
- Excellent working knowledge of all heavy-duty truck and material handling equipment systems with proven diagnostic/troubleshooting skills
- Possess 5-7 years of experience in Class 8 truck repairs including electronic diesel engine repair and air brake systems
- Valid driver’s license (CDL) preferred
- Proven interpersonal skills with ability to interface effectively with shop mechanics and Operations management
- Strong abilities in team development techniques
- PC literate with familiarity with MS Word, Excel and Outlook
- Possess effective telephone techniques in handling all incoming calls, road calls, and dealing with vendors
- Excellent record-keeping and organizational skills
- Thorough knowledge of heavy truck parts and inventory
- Have ability to work 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shifts as necessary
